Perdemia's Permission Analyzer How to get an overview of access rights

Perdemia has released Permission Analyzer 2.1, a Windows application that lets network administrators manage NTFS permissions. The software eliminates the mystery - and the dangers - of adding permissions that allow contractors and users to access the proper data stores.

Recent news stories about Hillary Clinton's email server and the breach of the Pentagon's servers might lead network managers to believe that most security threats are external. Security experts tell us, however, that most data breaches happen because of activity within an organization. Permission Analyzer 2.1 provides the tools that business people need to keep their servers safe and secure. By running Permission Analyzer 2.1 regularly, the management team can effectively control employee access to company data.

Unlike other programs that help manage permissions on a network, Permission Analyzer 2.1 scans an entire network and builds a database that can then be used by network administrators, chief information officers (CIOs), systems auditors, or any authorized employees who need to manage the network. Multiple users can use the database to perform queries and to show results in seconds, without scanning the network for every overview that is being built by a user. This design eliminates unnecessary network traffic, and dramatically reduces network load.

Permission Analyzer 2.1 can scan an entire network, or focus on specific computers and directories. You can even analyze nested group information by selecting LDAP organizational units to scan. Once the database has been updated with the current information, users can run reports or query the database by creating filters that include or exclude members, permissions, files, or folders.

A unique feature of Permission Analyzer 2.1's design is its ability to work with all of the members from an Active Directory group or Organizational Unit. With competitors' software, if a user wants to ensure that nobody in the Consultants group had access to the Personnel Department's folder, it would be necessary to inspect every member in the Consultants group individually. With Permission Analyzer 2.1, the user could use a single query to ensure that no members of the Consultants group has access to the Personnel information. In just a few minutes, network administrators could ensure that only the proper people have access to personnel folders, the legal department's confidential information, top management's planning directories, and other sensitive data.

It is easy to save selections of filters, exports, and policies and run them automatically using Windows Scheduler. Many network administrators, for example, schedule a daily network scan as well as HTML/CSV exports and policies that will send an email notification when unwanted permissions are found.

The software lets you drill down into the database and trace the origin of any group of permissions. Unusual permissions could be inherited from a direct or indirect group membership or from a parent folder. Or such permissions may be indicators of a security breach.

Permission Analyzer 2.1's internal database can support the largest networks that an enterprise might run. In addition, the Enterprise and Consultant Editions of the software work with Oracle, DB2, MS SQL, MySQL, and other popular databases.

Whether you're a network administrator who needs to manage NTFS permissions, a security officer who needs to be sure that every employee and consultant has the proper access and permissions, or a line manager who wants to streamline and automate permissions information, Permission Analyzer 2.1 has the tools that you need.

Permission Analyzer 2.1 runs under Windows Vista or higher. Prices for the Basic Edition begin at $299(US), with affordable Standard, Enterprise, and Consultant Editions available. A trial version is available online, as well as time-limited versions of each of the Permission Analyzer 2.1 editions

People should ask 10 questions to Voip Service Provider

As availing VoIP phone system is a business investment, it is imperative that you put some searching questions to the service providers in order to make an informed decision. As VoIp technology is relatively recent, it may at least for now, be less reliable than the conventional phone service.

The cost of VoIP service may vary depending on the calling features and service plans you choose. It is understood that those who opt for VoIP service from the same company that provides them broadband Internet service, end up getting the best deals.

Nonetheless, it is necessary you ask the VoIP service provider following pertinent questions to avoid disappointments later on. The cost of VoIP service may vary depending on the calling features and service plans you choose.

The first question obviously will be about the initial upfront costs. You must obtain definitive and unambiguous detail regarding the upfront costs. There could be a tendency among service providers to be evasive and then stealthily introduce additional set up costs or force the client to buy some additional equipment.

Make it a point to explain to the service provider about your existing system and the type of features you are looking for. This will enable the service provider to see whether your existing facilities can integrate with the proposed VoIP system. Ascertain specifically whether any new devices like phones, routers, and other equipment that you have not planned for, will be needed.

Do not be carried away by all clever sales talk about savings. There is no use opting for a service that will create more problems than solve. Make sure if your number will be E911 and seek confirmation whether you can add virtual numbers from other cities for friends, relatives or business customers to be able to call as a local number.

Faxing over VoIP is yet to be perfected whatever assurances the service provider may offer. If you are a heavy fax user, keeping a PSTN line may be essential. Even then, some fax machines may be too fast for VoIP and may need to be readjusted for it to work well. Make in-depth enquiries about faxing facility to prevent unexpected problems later on.

One of the chief attractions of having VoIP is the special features it can offer as some key features will result in saving on phone bills and contribute to increased productivity in business. One feature that should be important is the automatic call-forwarding that can be set in the event of an Internet outage. Make sure you are provided with all the features you require.

You may need a toll free number or a virtual number, so find out what the monthly charges will be and any extra per minute charges for these services. This information is important for you to work out the operational costs.

Make specific enquiries about the rates payable for international calls. Please understand that one of the biggest savings with a VoIP service is the charge for international calls. Find out about plans that suggest a list of countries for one low monthly charge.

Explore the possibility of getting some firm commitment about the quality and reliability of services as also the technical support. These may be some of the most difficult questions for the service provider to answer or for the client to be satisfied with. But still, asking these questions is worthwhile.

Panic Attack In Dogs - Causes And Methods To Help Your Dog

Panic Attack In Dogs - Causes And Methods To Help Your Dog

Panic Attack In Dogs - Causes And Methods To Help Your Dog

Panic attack in dogs comes on suddenly and can be triggered by loud noises such as thunder, fireworks or gun shots. The fight or flight instinct kicks in big-time, but since they can't fight something they can't see, some dogs will usually try to run away from the noise. For dogs who are fenced in or contained within a house, there is nowhere for them to go. So they turn all of that "flight" energy into outward destructive behavior or they internalize it, causing severe shaking, whining, panting, and raised heart rate.

It is not really understood why some dogs suffer from these panic attacks and others don't. One dog in a household may sleep through a violent thunderstorm, while another dog goes absolutely berserk and seems to be totally inconsolable.

If you have adopted a rescued dog, it may be impossible to know its previous history. It could have included some type of incident that left it deathly afraid of certain situations or sounds. If only they could tell us. Then again, I'm not sure I would want to know. Anyway, the reason behind the panic may never be known, but it's really not as important as helping your dog overcome the behavior.

I really think that a panic attack in dogs is much the same as it is in people. I don't think we really understand why some people suffer from it and yet others don't. However, humans have the means to seek out help and put that help to use in conquering our fears.

Dogs don't have the tools to deal with an anxiety or panic attack. They have no means of working through it or of understanding how to overcome this panic they are experiencing.

That is where we, as their caretakers, must intervene and find methods to help overcome this panic attack in dogs.

First of all, I have to stress the importance of not punishing your dog for running away or destroying something during a panic attack. Your dog is reacting to something he doesn't understand. By punishing him you will only be adding to the stress and confusion, possibly escalating any further episodes.

I do believe that a dog who has undergone some obedience dog training will have a bit of an edge over an untrained dog in that you may be able to distract your trained dog momentarily with commands. This is not always the case with extreme anxiety, because it does seem to over-ride any previous training, but with mild cases of panic attack, distraction with obedience work may help.

One method of calming your dog during a panic or anxiety attack is through the use of sedatives. This is not a recommended method for the obvious reason that it will not solve the problem. It will only drug your dog through the event. Most sedatives will last for a few hours, during which time your dog will be lethargic, unsteady and uncoordinated.

Some sedatives will restrict the reactions of the dog, yet will not lessen the terror going on within the dog's mind. He will still experience the distress of the situation without being able to do anything about it. If you have decided to use sedatives to help your dog through an extremely anxious time, please do some research on the side effects of the particular sedative you will be using.

The ultimate goal is to help your dog overcome its terror and get through a stressful event with a somewhat more peaceful balance of mind.

Another tool for helping overcome a panic attack in dogs is the anxiety wrap. You can find this as the Original Anxiety Wrap and the Thundershirt. The anxiety wrap is a snugly fitting shirt that exerts deep touch pressure on pressure points to soothe a dog during stress. It is similar to the swaddling of an infant to help it feel secure. This does not work for every dog or every instance of irrational anxiety a dog may experience, but it does help many dogs. Some it helps instantly, others may take several times of using the anxiety wrap to gradually lessen the extreme panic they have experienced so many times.

One other method of teaching your dog to overcome its extreme fear is by gradually exposing it to the very thing it is terrified of, such as thunder. You would start this with a tape recording of thunder. Play it at a very low level, encouraging your dog to take treats, to play ball, to dance around and have fun. This will help your dog to associate good things with the noise it has previously deemed terrifying. Gradually increase the noise, but only after your dog has accepted each level, showing no significant anxiety.

There are several methods to work through a panic attack in dogs. There really is no reason to simply watch your dog deal with the terror it feels. It may take some research, some effort and a LOT of patience, but it will be worth it in the end to suddenly realize you are in the middle of a thunderstorm and your dog is lying peacefully on its bed.

Over Possessive and Over-jealous Filipino Women Married to Foreign Nationals - Part 1

PART I

Forgotten Factor

Having to deal with possessive Filipino women may be one of the elements that a few foreign nationals perhaps had forgotten to factor in while they were in search of that special someone from the Philippines to share their lives with.

It is apparent that some Filipino women who, after being married to Westerners or other foreign nationals, have decided, consciously or unconsciously to be possessive or even over-possessive of their husbands. It seems that these women act that way as a means to control their foreigner national husbands. By control, I mean to somehow shield them away from not the elements but from the rest of the Philippine society.

By definition, these women are manipulative. Some of these women would go the extra mile in their possessiveness as to raise their hands on their docile foreign national husbands as a way to further subdue them should the latter tell them something that may hurt their feelings, regardless of how truthful that something can be.

Obviously, these married men cannot do much to repair the damage caused by their manipulative wives because they are quite old. They feel that it is too late for them to terminate their marriage relationships and to start again their search of love from scratch. Indeed, time is not on their side, and a result, their abusive Filipino wives take advantage of that.

It appears to me that some Filipino women are unaware that it is not customary for a wife to raise her hands on their husbands in the Western world or in the Arab world, and other parts of the world. This might be permissible in self-defense only in some countries. It is one of these possessive Filipino women's failings and shortcomings that needs to be addressed.

If such an issue is not given the proper attention, then you can expect the weakening of the marital bonds which can lead to full separation of the couple or even to divorce if they were married in the Philippines. Is that the wish of these over-jealous and possessive Filipino women, married to foreign nationals? They are the only who might be able to answer this question; yet, do not even count on it.

Husbands Viewed as Unique Possession

As I see it, there is nothing wrong for a married woman to feel a bit jealous if she realizes that her husband flirts or likes to flirt with another woman or other girls. In fact, such flirting behavior tends to lead to extra marital affairs, which in turn creates difficulties in most marriage relationships. But, an over-jealous woman would not wait for her husband to flirt with another girl or woman in order to accuse him of doing so. I personally know two few foreign nationals who are married to jealous Filipino wives.

Their domestic life is not the sweetest you can think of on earth. These women's intentions are clear: a) keep their husbands at home where nobody else would see them, except the domestic helper and the children, if any, b) go on vacations once in a while, as their budgets allow, where their husbands would have little or no opportunity to talk to no women. How would you feel if you were one of these married men? What would your reactions be when your Filipino over-jealous wife places so many restrictions on your life?

Part II to follow. Please stay tuned.

Over 70 percent of Prostate Cancer is Diagnosed in Men Over 65 Years of Age

Prostate cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in men, and the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer in America, other than skin cancer. One out of every six American men will develop prostate cancer at some point in his life, and an American man is 33% more likely to get prostate cancer than an American woman is to get breast cancer.

The prostate is a male sexual reproductive organ, in front of the rectum, and just below the urinary bladder. A healthy prostate averages around 3 centimeters in diameter, and weighs around 20 grams. The prostate is responsible for producing and storing some of the fluids that comprise semen. Within the prostate are many little glands where this fluid production occurs. The cells in these glands, like most cells of the body, live for a while before dying and being replaced in an orderly fashion. Prostate cancer occurs when new cells are made in these glands in an abnormal fashion, growing out of control and forming a tumor. Tumors can either be benign, or malignant. A malignant tumor of the prostate gland is called prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer in itself is not fatal. The danger of prostate cancer is that the cancer cells may spread or "metastasize" to other vital areas of the body. This is a danger of any kind of cancer, and occurs when cancer cells circulate through the body by way of blood or lymph. Common areas where the cancer cells may invade are bones, lungs, brain and lymph nodes, and cancers in these areas can be fatal.

Over 70% of prostate cancer is diagnosed in men over 65 years of age, and the majority of the other cases are found in men over 50, although it can sometimes occur in even very young men. Prostate cancer is normally a relatively slow growing cancer, especially in older men, and therefore many men with prostate cancer will end up dying from some other unrelated cause before the cancer causes any serious damage.

It is unclear as to what the causes behind prostate cancer are. It is known that the cells in the prostate glands operate under the control of male sex hormones, such as testosterone, and the development of cancer in the gland may be hormone related. There is also evidence to suggest that genetics and diet both play a part in the likelihood in developing the cancer.

In its early stages, prostate cancer often has no noticeable symptoms. It is therefore wise for any male over the age of 50 to regularly receive a prostate specific antigen (PSA) test, which can detect early stage forms of the cancer. If caught in the earlier stages, the chances of recovering from prostate cancer are very good with today's available treatments.

Organic LED and Its Potentials in Lighting

Organic LED and Its Potentials in Lighting

Organic LED and Its Potentials in Lighting

Every week LEDcentre.uk.com tries to provide some new information on LED lighting, and we havent mentioned OLEDs (Organic Light Emitting Devices), which are creeping into our everyday lives, even if we dont hear this term mentioned too often. OLEDs are not primarily used as lighting devices, but rather as displays. For their use as a main source of lighting further improvements are necessary. But how is OLED different from a simple LED?

OLEDs are organic light emitting diodes, so their components include organic substances which emit light once current runs through them. They can be either mono-layered or more often multi-layered, and also contain a usually transparent cathode and anode at the two ends for transporting current.

Organic LEDs are, basically the futuristic way of lighting, and their range of application widens continuously. The reason for their popularity is due to their exclusive features, which can be used advantageously not only in the lighting industry, but at the moment primarily in manufacturing displays of all forms (TVs, mobiles, adverts). These displays may contain PMOLED or passing matrix addressing schemes or AMOLEDs active matrix schemes. AMOLEDS with film transistor backplanes make it possible to switch or address each pixel individually, in other words touch screen.

Other advantages include its very small size, as OLEDs are layered on a thin film, or other paper-thin sheets. They are also very light due to this, with the flexibility of plastic substances. Beside the physical features, the displayed images on OLED have a higher brightness, better power efficiency in general, and a wide viewing angle. OLED displays are generally brighter with more lively (sometimes even considered unnatural) sharpness and liveliness of the colours. Also, these panels do not require back lighting, as previous side-lighted or back-lit panels, so black colours can be fully displayed on them, as perfect solution for advertising panels.

On the other hand, OLED technology is still in its infancy, and new solutions appear on the market constantly. There are plenty of issues that need research for it to become a reliable, long-term solution for either lighting or displays. One of its disadvantages is its rather short lifespan. Blue OLED components only have the lifetime of 14 000 hours, which is about 8 years with regular use of the display. This is too little compared to current solutions available on the market (LED, LCD), and more expensive as well. Also, since blue components lose their lifespan faster than other components, their visibility is a difficulty. Blue light is more difficult to detect by the human eye, so they need to be generally more powerful. The problem has been solved so far with optimizing the colour ratio within a pixel, to balance out the differences in lifespan. Also blue light is set as more intensive, often resulting in an artificial-looking picture on the display. Further issues can be water resistance (as OLEDs are ruined by water instantly, so their outdoor performance hugely depends on the constructions IP rating); the high power consumption of white light displays; or screen burn-in, which can happen due to the differing lifespan of the colours.

Naturally what we are primarily interested in is the technologys application for lighting purposes. This application of OLEDs has only started, since the generally low performance of these diodes and their current short lifespan prevents manufacturers to use it as a main source of lighting. Also, the manufacturing of OLEDs has just started in larger amounts, which will hopefully lead to a reduction of its price. Demand for organic LEDs is growing constantly, due to additional applications by mobile phone companies and display manufacturers.

As for lighting, OLED as a new form of lighting offers entirely new solutions. Since OLEDs could even be printed on a sheet of paper even, they are recently applied as wallpaper with background lighting. Its transparency allows it to be used as window during daytime and source of light as a panel during the night. Novaled OLED panels bear a 60-70% transparency.

For commercial purposes the first product was the round Orbeos OLED panel by Osram in November 2009. Although due to the current problems with these applications we will still have to wait until OLED becomes a competitive lighting source, its generally peculiar features and the new solutions they allow will bring new light to our homes.

Optical Sensors Market Drivers, Challenges and Scope

Optical Sensors Market Drivers, Challenges and Scope

The progression of technology and innovation in the optics sensors technology and business has presented an ocean of opportunities to the various segments and sub-segments of the technology; namely fiber optic sensors, image sensors, position sensors, ambient light and proximity sensors and infrared sensors. Some of the characteristics of the device that make it suitable for application are its small size, its ability to operate without electrical power, its ability to be multiplexed along the length of the fibers and its ability to sense time delay as light passes through each sensor.

These Optical sensors can be utilized in a wide range like aerospace, medical, industrial, telecommunications due to their ability to be non-conductive and withstand hash environmental conditions.

Some of the factors driving the market are the rapid technological developments in the domain, its rising applications in healthcare/medical sector and the oil and gas segment. Investment in the healthcare sector has led to an increase in the demand of high-tech imaging devices and equipment in hospitals and healthcare centres. Another prominent factor driving the market is the affordability of mobile phones, smartphones and tablets today. A crucial driving force of the technology is the intrinsic role for military uses.

Market research suggests that the Optical Sensor Market will grow in the developing regions of APAC and Latin America and a relatively slow growth will be observed over the African Subcontinent on account of the low 4G LTE (Long-Term Evolution) deployment in the region.

The market has also tremendously benefitted from the new growth of LED Lightings and the fast adoption of sensors for factory automation and smart systems.

Though the technology has increased several possibilities and scope for application, the cost of adopting the technology is a primary barrier in the segment. Another factor hindering the growth of the industry is the reluctance from the end-users in employing the new innovations in the Optical Sensors Market. Substantial opportunity gets lost in the compromise between the quality of the images/products and the price of the sensors. A major obstruction to the growth of the industry is the high organizational expenses. This hurdle is fast being solved due to the high governmental subsidies being provided to boost R&D in the optical sensing field.

The use of optical fibers around the world has undoubtedly increased with a rise in the demand for endoscopic imaging, leading to the emergence and application of the technology across diverse domains such as R&D, manufacturing, defense, healthcare, process control etc.

The growth of technologies that can help build a compact electrical circuit will continue in the next few years as well. The Optical Sensing technology has also yet to achieve its optimum potential in the oil, gas and wind sector. Firms, by and large, are working on technological innovations with respect to improving the pixel size, pixel resolution, pixel count and the performance of these devices to maintain a competitive edge in the industry. The industry indeed leaves tremendous scope for Research and Development (R&D) in the near future.

Open Head Injury, Skull Fractures and TBI

Open Head Injury, Skull Fractures and TBI

Image source: http://slideplayer.com/9138680/27/images/41/Skull+Fracture+Basilar+skull+fractures.jpg

Open Head Injury, Skull Fractures and TBI

Though traumatic brain injury does not always involve a fractured skull, the term "open head injury" is used when the affected individual's skull is penetrated by an object, such as a bullet or bone fragment. This differs from a "closed brain injury", which involves a non-invasive blow to the head through sports, a car accident, or another incident. The term "open head injury" actually refers to the condition of the skull rather than that of the brain; there are different grades of severity in traumatic brain injury of both the open and closed varieties. Open head injury is usually diagnosed with the help of x-rays or other technology such as CAT scans or tomography.

Side Effects of Open Head Injury

When the skull is broken, the delicate tissues of the brain are exposed to further harm in the form of infections or further injury during other blows. In addition, bone fragments remaining from a traumatic brain injury such as a fall or car accident can move around and injure the brain after the initial traumatic event. While a fracture in the skull can actually give the brain room to swell without negatively impacting the brain, the brain is at risk for infections in exposed tissue. In addition, an open head injury can lead to more severe side effects such as seizures, dementia or even paralysis.

Types of Skull Fractures

There are almost as many varieties of skull fractures as there are ways in which the skull can be broken. The two major varieties of skull fracture in open head injuries are simple "linear" skull fractures and depressed skull fractures.

Linear Fractures

The term "linear skull fracture" is used to refer to a straightforward crack or break in the skull. Linear fractures may be relatively minor and require little or no treatment, though doctors will still want to diagnose and treat the potential damage caused to the brain upon impact and breakage of the skull. The placement of linear fractures is important; when a linear skull fracture extends into the sinus cavity, it may cause leakage of cerebrospinal fluid through the ears or nose and may require insertion of a drainage device. If the linear skull fracture occurs near the base of the skull, it may cause other complications such as nerve or artery damage.

Depressed Skull Fractures

The term "depressed skull fracture" is used to refer to a situation in which the broken bone presses down into or on top of the brain. Depressed skull fractures are common in victims of traumatic brain injury whose heads have been struck with blunt objects. A depressed skull fracture can be compared to a "dent" in the skull; surgery is usually required if the depth of the dent equals or exceeds the thickness of the skull bone which surrounds it.

Treating Open Head Injury and Traumatic Brain Injury

There are several options for the victims of open head injuries and related brain damage. As stated above, some patients may require surgical intervention if the skull is depressed beyond repair or to remove errant bone shards that can threaten further brain injury. Bone fragments may be removed or replaced with synthetic skull pieces to protect the fragile brain tissue. In addition, some patients whose open head injuries are never repaired may have to wear a helmet to prevent re-injury in the case of a fall due to a seizure or other event.

If You've Suffered From Open Head Injury or TBI

If you have suffered from brain injury due to a skull fracture or other open head injury, you may be eligible for compensation and damages to make up for medical expenses, lost wages, and future medical care. Contact an experienced brain injury attorney for more information on filing your traumatic brain injury claim and recovering damages for traumatic brain injury side effects.

Nursing Careers - Future And Prospects

Nursing Careers - Future And Prospects

Image source: http://blog.healthjobs.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/experienced-nurse.jpg

Nursing Careers - Future And Prospects

What is the future of nursing careers? Predictions are that in 10 or 20 years, it will look nothing like it does today! With new technologies and drugs, changes in insurance and health care policies, and the shortage in nurses, the profession will have to reinvest itself.

Many nursing functions will be automated. For example, documentation and updating patient records, smart beds to monitor vital signs, bar codes, and automatic medicine carts could reduce the time and errors in dispensing medications, and voice-activated technology would eliminate the need to constantly write things down. Other nursing task such as serving meals will be taken over by aides. This would give nurses more time to provide a human touch to their patients.

As a result of nursing shortages, healthcare facilities will be forced to use their nurses judiciously. Nurses will spend more time at the bedside as educators and care coordinators to refocus on the patient. With the lengths of patient stays shortening, nurses will have to make the best use of a shrinking amount of time hospital stays. Nurses will also spend more time in administration and supervision positions. They will need to know how to access knowledge and transfer it to the patient and their loved ones.

The changes in technology will possibly attract more men and minorities into the profession. Greater emphasis must be placed on supporting teaching careers and recruiting educators from diverse cultural backgrounds to relieve the serious shortage of nursing school faculty. Therefore, more loans and scholarships for master's and PhDs would also have to be in place, and the colleges would have to pay the instructors more money.

If the nursing shortage continues, hospitals may have to be reserved only for the very sickest. That means that the number of outpatient care will increase, as will the need for home health care nurses. They will also serve more prominent roles in clinics, consulting firms, insurance companies, and software and technology companies. Nurses in the future would probably do much more population-based or community health care. They will identify risks and establish priorities for specific populations and groups. They will provide community education and work with employers and insurance payers to develop programs that save money as well as promote health.

Nurse practitioners have a bright future especially in geriatrics and gerontology. With the baby boomer generation reaching retirement, those nurses who are themselves baby boomers but are not yet ready to retire may find themselves in the role of consultants. They would be the geriatric providers of choice because they would have a better understanding of aging, she said.

As technology and research progresses, in linking chronic illnesses to behaviors, nurses would focus more on preventing the illnesses rather than treatment. Also, drugs designed for healthcare that targets diseases before they start, and identifying risks for those diseases will enhance preventive care.

This means that people are going to have to learn to take care of themselves more. The nursing shortage and rising health care costs will also put pressure on the health care system to change from an illness model to a wellness and prevention model.

Therefore, no matter what the future holds, nurses will have be prepared to keep learning, growing, and expanding and changing alongside he transformative role of the healthcare profession. That obviously comes easier when one is passionate about the career.

North Carolina Cremation and the Smaller Cremation Society

There is a prevailing idea that "smaller" funeral homes face a greater challenge to succeed and grow than larger firms. How real is this issue? Is the path to success for a larger firm easier to navigate? If size really matters, what can a smaller firm do to secure its long-term success? For discussion purposes we must define what a smaller firm is. It is conceivable that a funeral home that does 500 cases annually may be comparatively small in a large metropolitan market; a 200-call firm in a highly competitive trade area may be considered the "big firm" in town, depending on its market share. We asked people who work in funeral service, or who are affiliated with funeral services firm to define the characteristics of a smaller firm:

* "In this business, small is defined by the number of calls, 100 calls would be termed a small but nice business."

* "A small firm is defined by the number of full-time licensed funeral directors on staff."

* "A small firm would be one that serves a limited geographic market which does not allow it to expand its call volume."

* "A small firm does less than 100 calls a year, with a market share of less than 5 percent in metro areas of less than 40 percent in rural areas."

* "A firm doing 90 cases may only have 100 deaths in its market. So they have 90 percent market share. That firm is huge in my eyes, regardless of the number of cases."

There seems to be logical ways to look at defining a small firm. Next question: What are the top challenges faced by a small firm defined in these terms? Let's go back to our panel:

* "Keeping good help - licensed funeral directors."

* "Not having adequate capital to reinvest in the business."

* "Decreasing profit margins."

* "Erosion of profits die to increase of cremation."

* "Staffing: too many hats (most small firm owners do everything."

* "Not enough staff to have the time to get and keep a full-head of steam on any projects."

* "More staff, better group plans, more leverage with suppliers, more market to capture and easier access to personnel."

* "I think large firms have the same issues but are sometimes more equipped to handle them."

* "Owners of larger firms have more time to work on their business than in their business."

The Common Denominator

There is a theme that runs through all of the aforementioned answers. Simply put, it is the availability and allocation of resources, including time. Owners and managers of small businesses often struggle with cash flow (operations), l (financing) mad making large expenditures for facilities provident, updated vehicles or information technology (investing with funds from cash or financing). Thus in a small funeral home. it is all about resource. Firms with fewer resources, or limited access to resource (one may have the money to hire help but nor have access to skilled labor), do not grow or they experience a slower rate of growth, either problem is like being in reverie gear, putting the business in peril. One funeral professional in Northern Ohio observed that in some small firms, funeral service is sometimes not the owner's only source of income. "in many small communities the funeral home owner is also, a farmer, or works for the fire department, or may be a city administrator" he said. The service resource in the o lead market shifts. Service programs such as active preened or aftercare. Thus, he or she is not able to capture future business and protect or grow. Comparatively speaking.Are the challenges really greater for operators of smaller firms than larger firms? It depends on the goals of business, really. Large or small, failure to overcome challenges in operations, financing, marketing and investing will inhibit a business ability to sustain itself. One of our panelist commentated, "Larger firms understand shifts; they have greater market share and probably lead market shifts. Smaller market share and probably firms continue to focus on what "was". The smaller firm should be able to be more responsive than a large firm, but the owner usually does not nave the midst to change. The assertion is than small business owners should think like big business owners. In other words, regardless of size, the operator of a smaller funeral hone must be forward- thinking and nimble enough to adapt to changes in the market. Better yet" Ely not be forward-thinking enough to effect change rather than to react to it? Another panelist has o answer to that question:" Many owners of small firms like their size because they control the rate of growth, the amount of free time they have and so on". Owners, according to this person can make a good living without many of the "headaches" that come with depending on employees, such as finding good help, absenteeism, payroll taxes and benefits. But if you're the "only game in town" ask yourself these questions.

* "Do I know what customers will think about cremation services in the future?"

* "What will the population in my trade area be in five, 10or 20 years?"

* "What will prevent a funeral homeowner in the next town from building a firm in my town, a block away?"

These unknown are compelling reasons why owners of a seller funeral home, or the only funeral home in town, should not be satisfied with the status quo. Things will change. Things are changing.

Allocation of Available Resources

Time, human resources and money tend to be the most prevalent issues for smaller firms, so a great deal of thought must be given to the wisest allocation of these resources. We have established that goals must be set, regardless of the market situation. Whether there is a competing firm in town or not, the funeral home owner still competes for the buying mindset of the consumer. Setting goals is the first step; breaking it all down to objectives and action plans will help you achieve success. One important reminder: If it has been some time since you created or reviews your business plan, this is a good time to review it. Knowing your true costs of doing business is key when making decisions about personnel, marketing and other investments in the future of your business. The following are steps to success that funeral homes of any size can follow:

Step One: If you don't already have a value proposition, it is time to create one. A value proposition is a clear statement of the tangible things a customer receives from doing business with you that separates you from your competition. It had to be specific and sustainable. Think of the reasons why a person should choose your firm besides off-street parking, access for the disabled or that you" care". Think "benefits" not "feature:. Step Two: Intuitionalism the value proposition throughout your organizations. Each and every person should be able to articulate it and understand its meaning and importance. Step Three: Evaluate your human resources. Create written job descriptions for everyone, build on peoples strengths. This is important in allocating responsibilities such as family follow-ups and preened - activities that help build your brand and secure future business. Step Four: Take control of communications in your marketplace regarding funeral service and funeral professionals. Today, most consumers get information about funeral service from the news and entertainment media or word of mouth. The media is often either negative or a caricature. Re-focus your existing advertising and public relations so that it communications the value of funeral service and funeral professionals in positive. relevant manner. If consumers wish to know about cremation options, they should hear it from you! If you do not currently spend money on advertising, it's time to budget for paid marketing communications. However, much can be achieved using press releases, community calendars and speaking at civic meeting luncheons. Step Five: Become the authority on advance funeral planning your marketplace. Why become a raving fan of preened? Go back to the "unknown" discussed earlier. We know several things about consumers today Some prefer cremation, and among those that do, there is little awareness that visitation and other traditional services are available to them. Furthermore, people today want highly personalized service. Across all business lines, people want it "their way". Expectations of funeral service will change into he future, so why not capture the mindset of today's consumer? Step Six: look of r new to one marketing communications purities. A strong community outreach program that includes aftercare, eldercare and advance funeral planning accomplishes this. If it is not feasible to hire someone who wakes up every morning thinking about marketing, promotions and public relations, consider engaging the services of a marketing organization that specializes in funeral service. Step Seven: Support your preened and outreach programs! Train your funeral directors and staff (administrators, apprentices, embalmers. gardeners), on how to answer questions about prearrangement and aftercare, and how to hand the individual off to your preened or aftercare designee. Developing incentive program furor funeral home personnel who cultivate leads that convert to funded prearrangements. Step Eight: Use "free" media to communicate frequently to the community. Generate regular press releases on new ideas in funeral service such as personalized and cremation options. Offer and promote seminars on prearrangements, healthcare advance planning and grief support. These can be hosted for little to no cost. Step Nine: Aftercare is a vital link, keeping families loyalty o your firm. Communicate frequently to the families you serve. Host a holiday memorial program in December. Promote Veterans Day and Memorial Day events in your area. Create a monthly luncheon event fro widows and widowers. These are worth the investment to secure your future, and play a role in communication the sustained value of your funeral home. Step Ten: Be active in your state funeral directors association and /or new of the n atonal associations. One must grow, market share. The idea generation, camaraderie and support received through active participation in these organizations, will enrich you and your business. Isolating yourself from your peers creates apathy - a condition that is sure to prevent success. Bonus Tip: Keep it going. Continually evaluate your marketing communication, public relations and promotions to determine effectiveness. Don't let anything get in your way of a regular staff meeting happening, even if you cannot be present. Keep your value proposition to-of-mind. Many of the attics discussed do not require a large financial commitment, but they do take time. Even if you want to stay "smaller", the aim id long-tern success thought well-planned strategic resource allocation that helps you promote the value of funeral service. While the criteria for funeral home size varies depending on the person you ask, small funeral homes seen to share similar changes.

Market conditions such as rising cremation rate, declining death rate and changes in the population have a greater effect:

Recruiting and retaking skilled business and lLess time for an owner to wooer "on" the business because he or she is so involved working in the business.

All of these points can be summed up into one word: resources. The problem of scarce resources requires creative strategies, and it is critical for the owner of a smaller funeral home to redirect his or her efforts to long-term success. One must not fall into the trap of complacency, thinking no completion exists. While a spirit of cooperation may indeed exist between competing firms, is it realistic to think that your colleague will turn away a family you have served for many years? Review your business plan often. Understand the cost of doing business so you can make informed decisions about resource allocation. Even if you are the only game in town" and have a wonderful relationship with your colleague across town, you do have competition. The news and entertainment media currently shapes the consumers view of funeral service - this is perhaps a greater challenge than competing against an aggressive firm, because consumer demand dictates the future of all business. Be the authority on funeral service. Befriend the media and take advantage of positive, free press. Allocate resources to marketing communication, public relations, and promotions. Funeral directors and staff who work in funeral homes should retake an active role in communicating the value of funeral service. Create a value proposition and communicate it throughout your organization. Even if ours is a husband and wife operation, articulating the benefits families will receive by doing business with your firm creates universal understanding of the value you provide. Develop an active one - to - one marketing communications program that supports active e preened, aftercare and other com mutiny outreach efforts. Get some training on how to handle preened inquiries and find a person to be decimated to grieving families before and after the funeral service. This gives you an opportunity to connect to families in a relevant, service oriented manner. If you cannot or do not wish to hire staff, there are marketing organizations that specialize in developing active preened programs that will enhance your business and secure the future success of your firm. Finally, size does not matter! There is nothing wrong with being a smaller business. But if you want to stay in business long-term, you must adopt growth strategy. Thinking competitively and finding ways to create greater value for the community you serve wile ensure that yours will be the firm of choice for years into the future.

No Contact Rule Why It Is So Important

No Contact Rule Why It Is So Important

Image source: https://image.slidesharecdn.com/consitutionallaw-150505230258-conversion-gate01/95/introduction-to-constitutional-law-and-its-salient-features-2-638.jpg?cb=1430885132

No Contact Rule Why It Is So Important

If you have suffered a major breakup, you know how difficult it can be to resist your first impulses. You can make many mistakes that can harm your chances of getting your ex back. However, the biggest mistake you can make when you want to get your ex back is being constantly in their face. What should you say to him or her?

If you have been dumped and it was an unexpected breakup, your emotions will be running quite high. You can say all kinds of things in anger, most of which you probably never mean. Saying things like this can cause damage way beyond repair. By avoiding this, if you want him or her back, it is much easier to deal with without all the anger.

Relationship experts will often tell you to take a breather period from your ex but never tell you exactly how long you should be out of contact with your ex but honestly, a month long hiatus should work. It is enough time to let things settle down and any communication you choose to have will be much calmer. Do not break this rule. It can be easy to break this no communication rule through two ways. These include: drunken dialing and text message terrorism. If you really want your ex back, you really need to follow this crucial rule. By not doing this, you will fail to earn back the respect and the love of your ex.

Drunk Dialing ' Although it can happen at any time, drunk dialing usually occurs in the late evening or overnight hours. It begins loneliness and sadness added with a few drinks. The alcohol begins to numb not only your pain but your senses. Those drinks will soon affect your judgment so things you normally wouldn't do, you end up doing. Before you know it, you are calling your ex, either cussing him or her out or pleading for them to take you back. Honestly, it is rather embarrassing and when you sober up, you'll never forgive yourself for the damage that is done.

Text Message Terrorism ' Your immediate response following a breakup may be complete terror and panic. You'll try anything to get your ex to change his or her mind. If you can't stop them, then you may start calling through cell pones and email. If you constantly do this, then the chances of your driving your ex nuts and changing numbers and email address is great. Avoid this along with drunk dialing as well.

Both of these can be disastrous when you are trying to win your ex's heart back. If you happen to notice yourself falling into these things, you can do well to avoid them in the first place.

Why is it important to keep away for a month? It's a double reason actually. It keeps you from screwing up, lessening your chances of bringing him or back to you. It also allows you time to think and fix yourself. You can also plan out how you will get your ex back. It is human nature to screw up but a plan can help you overcome it.

Nikken Water Filter ReviewPiMag Aqua Pour

In this commentary we take a look at the Nikken PiMag Aqua Pour Water Filter, and compare it with other like commercially available countertop water filtration systems. Nikken is a Japanese network marketing, or MLM, corporation founded in 1975. One of their very different product line features is the Nikken magnets. These magnets are used in the water filtration process, as well as the many other wellness product lines manufatured by Nikken. We were interested in both the technology as well as how a network marketing product fared against others in the marketplace.

We found the Nikken PiMag Aqua Pour Gravity Water System available on Amazon.com in both new and used condition. The Nikken website lists this item at $299.00 and includes a short video overview as well as information about dangers present in both tap water and bottled water. We certainly have the same opinion on these points.

Other related Nikken water filter products include the Deluxe Countertop Water System, the Deluxe Under Counter System, Optimizer II, and Ultra Shower System. The company video claims that its magnetic technology doesn't remove beneficial components during the filtration process as does reverse osmosis technology and other purification techniques.

Although having no personal experience with the Nikken water filters, rather we sought to see how they were rated by people that have actually used them. To accomplish this, we analyzed customer ratings existing on Amazon.com and other Internet sources.

In addition to the PiMag Aqua Pour, we reviewed consumer ratings and comments of two competitive products, albeit using distinct technology. Beginning with the Nikken water filter product:

Nikken PiMag Aqua Pour Rating - 3.5 Star Rating - The reviews of this product were mixed.. One comment that is of concern is that the company will reportedly not make public independent lab test results (the Nikken website does include a statement that the PiMag water system "meets or exceeds the standards specified in ANSI/NSF 42 and 53").

New Berkley Water Filter System

Big Berkey Water Filter System - 4 Star Rating - All reviews are highly favorable. One comment included a reference to independent testing: The Black Berkey filter formulation has been tested by State and EPA accredited laboratories to exceed EPA and ANSI/NSF (Std. 53) protocol, and included a link to see test results from the University of Arizona, Spectrum Labs and the LSU Department of Toxicology and Environmental Science.

Multipure Countertop Water Filter

Multipure CBVOCSC Countertop Water Filter - 4.5 Star Rating - All reviews highly laudatory - Only concern mentioned was: "I wish the flexible pipe was a little longer, so I could position the filter further away from the sink." According to product description: "Complete lab tests and California certifications are available at the company's web site."

Finally, the Nikken PiMag Aqua Pour Water Filter and other Nikken magnetic-based technologies seem to be very popular. If the company would publish independent test results we could recommend this product without reservation. Competitive produt evaluations are slightly better, although a small number of reviews is available.

NewAir AW-210ED Wine Cooler Features Thermoelectric Technology and Dual Temperature Controls

Wine often conjures up images of sophistication, class, and elegance, and one of the keys to enjoying wine to its fullest is proper wine etiquette. Whether its the temperature of the wine, age of the wine, or foods its served with, every small detail counts.

One of the most important steps you can take to truly enjoy a bottle of wines true aroma is proper storage temperature. As one of the basic tenets of wine etiquette, wine storage is imperative due to the complex chemistry that gets altered with environmental or temperature changes. Storing it at a temperature that is too cold will cause it to lose its flavor notes while extremely warm temperatures will accelerate the wines aging process. Moreover, temperature fluctuations can either enhance the bouquet of certain types of wine or disguise its defects.

As a general rule, red wine is best served between 62-65F, while a quality white wine should be appreciated when it is between 58-62F. Also, champagne and sparkling wine should best be served at 45F. With that said, one of the best ways to ensure proper wine storage temperature is via a home cellar, but this may be impossible for even the most serious oenophile due to cost or space constraints. Thus, wine coolers and refrigerators are a cost-effective way to serve your finest vintages.

There are several types and models of wine coolers available depending on cost, needs, and desires, but when choosing a wine cooler, first determine how many bottles of wine you intend to chill, then add on more capacity to allow for a growing collection. Next, figure out what type of wine you will be storing. If you have only reds or whites, a wine refrigerator with only one chamber will be sufficient, but if you need to store both types, a 2-temperature zone wine refrigerator is absolutely essential.

To take the guesswork out of choosing a wine cooler, our product team has been testing a number of popular brands and models. Avanti, Amcor, and Franklin Chef are just some of the most well-know wine cooler manufacturers, but NewAir, a company most known for its portable air conditioners and swamp coolers, has also developed their own line of affordable, feature-rich wine coolers. We were fortunate enough to be test the new NewAir AW-210ED wine cooler and here are our findings:

Style and Design:
When we first received the NewAir AW-210ED, we were definitely impressed with its sleek, hi-tech styling. The glass door was large and durable, while the 7 slide out shelves and racks within the unit were chrome plated. The digital control panel was extremely user-friendly, and the interior of the wine cooler even came equipped with a soft blue LED light that increased visibility and provided a nice glow. Furthermore, the AW-210EDs upright tower design helped save space. In fact, the NewAir AW-210ED fit nicely into the corner of our office and was non-obtrusive.

Bottle Capacity:
As mentioned above, one of the first things you should keep in mind when choosing a wine cooler is the bottle capacity. A wine cooler can hold as little as six bottles to some units which can hold up to 500. The NewAir AW-210ED wine cooler had a 21-bottle capacity which was more than enough space for us budding connoisseurs.

Cooling Technology:
There are primarily two types of wine cooling technologies: compressor and thermoelectric. Most people prefer thermoelectric units because they do not have many moving parts and are very quiet. Also, thermoelectric technology is better at preserving and aging wine because it lessens sedimentation that can occur with vibration. The NewAir AW-210ED was a thermoelectric wine cooler that provided silent, vibration-free operation.

Dual Zone Chambers:
Also as mentioned above, having a wine cooler with at least two temperature zones is important if youre storing more than one type of wine. A wine cooler with dual temperature zones means that the cabinets upper and lower zones are specialized, independently refrigerated chambers with separate temperature control capabilities. The NewAir AW-210ED wine cooler had two zones which allowed us chill our favorite bottles of merlot and chardonnay at once.

Overall, at less than $250, the NewAir AW-210ED was not only more affordable than some of the other wine coolers we tested, it also offered many of the same features we found in pricier models.

New Technology in Baseball Products

With the game comes the gear, as technology advances into the 21st century so does technological baseball products. There are some extremely interesting baseball products that are being produced year after year. From baseball gear, to protection, to improving your swing, protecting equipment and memorabilia, the coming years promise great technological advances and some old favorites. Each praised for the high quality, competitive pricing, and innovative designs. Here is a rundown on some of the products that you can expect to see now and in the future.

Major League Baseball is advancing into the digital age by testing and using technologies to assist in helping teams, umpires, and individual players achieve optimum performance. Take for example the Umpire Information System (UIS) that tracks the baseball from the pitcher's hand all the way until it crosses the plate. This innovative product borrows technology from the United States military missile tracking devices, monitoring pitch location and trajectory that the umpire holds on a laptop computer. Then there is the SportMaster Pro device that works in tracking pitch- by- pitch and handles databases of the pitchers, batter performance, and types of pitches thrown. This handy little gadget operates by the use of a touch-screen tablet and is light weight and durable. An oldie- but- goody is the Digital Scout, first deemed to be the official handheld statistical software in 2002. This software enables both coaches and fans to track statistical and scouting data on a handheld device that uses point -and-touch technology. Using the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) as its platform this software is great for collecting player and team performance and even report printing.

But with everything that computers can do, baseball purists argue that technology takes from the human aspect of the game. While others say that it only enhances statistical data and adds accuracy and efficiency in performance monitoring. Which ever way you lean technological advances in baseball are an asset that allows teams to organize their information without any the real threat of replacing managers, coaches, scouts, or players by computers.

The ever popular video analysis adds that special aspect of real-time playback and the ability to review from many different angles the player's style or techniques. Panasonic had developed a video coaching system with the capacity to archive 400 hours or more of video used by coaches to search, view, and compare players. It's going to be very interesting to watch and wait to see what we can think of next.

New Cutting-edge Technology Offers Affordable, Effective Acne Treatment

Few things cause adolescents, and many adults, as much daily embarrassment as acne does. That's why Americans spend more than $100 million a year on over-the-counter acne products! Unfortunately, most don't work leaving acne-sufferers frustrated and desperate to find something that does.

It's this overwhelming need and demand for an effective, affordable acne treatment that informed and inspired the development of LIGHTWAVE Blue Light Therapy and Red Light Therapy. This pain-free, drug-free skin care alternative to treating acne is not only affordable, but natural too. LIGHTWAVE therapy is the healthy, holistic way to improve the condition of your skin.
The Science

According to the American Academy of Dermatology:

"Blue Light gets at the core of what causes acne eruptions: P. acnes, the bacteria responsible for causing acne inflammation, pumps out tiny molecules called porphyrins. When those porphyrins are exposed to certain wavelengths of light, they produce free radicals that kill the bacteria. Without P. acnes around to cause inflammation, the acne clears up."

As for Red Light, the blood vessels in the skin absorb its energy. This stimulates the mitochondria in the cells and starts to convert the photon energy into biochemical energy known as ATP. It's this boost in ATP that increases cellular activity and mitosis which diminishes inflammation and helps to restore normal cellular function.
The Treatment

There are 5 simple steps in LIGHTWAVE Blue Light Therapy and Red Light Therapy:

1. The target area is cleansed with an acne cleanser
2. You're fitted with a pair of goggles to protect your eyes from light
3. For 15 minutes, the target area is exposed to the Blue Light
4. For another 15 minutes, the target area is exposed to the Red Light
5. The target area is treated with a topical salicylic gel and sunscreen

As though its effectiveness and affordability aren't incentive enough to try this LIGHTWAVE therapy, the warmth emitted from Blue and Red Light Therapy is described by most people as a relaxing, enjoyable experience.

Everyone's acne treatment frequency varies depending on the severity of the acne, but it's most often twice a week for a 4- to 6-week period. As for results, most see a dramatic improvement within 8 weeks time, often seeing a clearance in acne of up to 70 percent!

New Attack Method Delivers Malware via Mouse Hover

In the past, we have known clicking on malicious links or opening spam emails as the major way of distributing malware. But today, a new way of malware attacks has been discovered. Hackers and spammers are infecting computers by the Mouse hovering over a power point presentation.

Trend Macro, a company offering IT security solutions, has discovered this latest form of attack. The company acknowledges that hackers are delivering malware to computers without necessarily clicking on links or downloading malicious files from emails. These attacks have recently targeted organizations in Poland, United Kingdoms, Netherlands and Sweden.

According to Trend Macro, Trojan usually activates when computer mouse hovers over an image or text link that is delivered through a spam email. The Trojan accomplishment is to steal personal information regarding banks, browsing history and remote access on the infected machine.

The powerpoint slide is attached in the spam email, and usually has a subject line with a finance-related word such as RE: Online purchase Order Report #OPOR1234. Immediately the mouse hovers over the link, the Trojan prompt Microsoft Power Shell to run the Malware. Once this happens, the Trojan downloads another downloader (JS_NEMUCOD.ELDSAUGH) in the form of a JSE (JavaScript Encoded file). JSE will finally retrieve the last payload from a command-and-control server.

Ms. PowerPoint can detect the suspicious files depending on the Microsoft Office the attackers are using before the script is executed. The latest versions of Microsoft Office deactivates the malicious files by default. To be precise, Office 365s power point and web mode are not affected by this form of attack.

If Ms.Power point doesnt stop Trojan, it goes on with its missions and accomplishments. However, the installation of the Trojan goes on without any form of notice in the older version of Microsoft Office that doesnt have protected view turned on. Lack of this action gives installed malware an added advantage of being one step ahead from being traced.

virus-1889413_960_720

How OTLARD/Gootkit Variant compromises your machine?

Trojan downloader contains a variant OTLARD also known as Gootkit that has the capabilities to steal bank information. It emerged in the early 2012, and soon it was persistence with stealing confidential information, browsing manipulations and network traffic monitoring. Despite this, it has also been used to spread spam messages to intended users. A good example is when Gootkit was used to spread spam messages appearing as a letter from French Ministry of Justice in 2015.

OTLARD is also known to have it own variants that compromises websites through a malicious iframe. The variant downloads command modules for the target websites including its FTP credentials to be used to gain access to the website. For instance, websites in Sweden and Poland were compromised by OTLARD and after that used to send malicious documents to the citizen. Upon mouse hovering on the Ms. PowerPoint document, hacked websites in Netherland were used by the operators to drop a payload to the affected computers.

OTLARD operators initially delivered their payloads by using macro malware-laced documents targeting a limited number of countries. With its continued innovations and advancement; it has evolved from web injection to redirection of deceiving users with potential more success. It has reflected this by breaking down and extracting credentials and bank information from large organizations in Europe.

The greatest danger with this kind of macro-based mouse hover attack is that it appears to be invisible to the user. It goes ahead and makes the situation worse by conducting many malicious activities in the background such as compromising the computer as well as collecting confidential information (national identity no., banking information, identity particulars, etc.). OTLARD mostly targets windows operating systems including Windows 7, 8 and 10 to execute these functions.

OTLARD variant has become the latest channel for cybercriminals. The reason being; it does not require any initial or additional items to execute the payload. Microsoft Office documents are usually vulnerable to attacks because they are frequently used to communicate information all over the enterprise. Thus, OTLARD can use its variants to steal information anytime.

Precautions actions to take against Mouse Hover attacks

Protection is better than cure. Right! We can protect ourselves against this piece of malware getting installed on our computers. It would be wise if you turned on protected view on your Office applications. This is done by ensuring that all actions of protected view are correctly checked from Trust Center. You can access these settings by clicking on file, then options, at this juncture; you can click on Trust Center for Trust Center settings. Protected view enables the user to read the content of unknown suspicious file thus reducing the high chances of you machine getting infected.

Limiting the number of users can help to slow down the great number of attacks via mouse hover. Information security professionals and information technology administrators can prevent these attacks by editing registry and implement group policies that block user permission to enforce the principle of least privilege. Hence, the numbers of users accessing computers are reduced significantly.

Considering the doorway for malware is spam emails, mitigating email-based threats and keeping email gateway safe is recommendable. We have known that social engineering can be the cause of these attacks, creating a culture among employees to enforce cyber security can help to shutdown operators from intruding. The weakest link in computer access is the user, and this is the reason why users should be the first to take actions against any form of attack. If the user does not take precautionary measures, then, someone else will easily trick him into opening malicious email attachment and believe me say they will own your system. Therefore, let it become a habit to scan your emails at the gateway to keep off hackers tricks.

Its bad enough for hackers to trick us into clicking on links and programs that will get our machine infected. And it becomes worse when malware gets installed while doing nothing at all. This leaves with no option but to take actions in ensuring all security features for our hardware and software are up-to-date and turned on.

Conclusions

According to the research on mouse hover conducted by Trend Macro, it is evident that these cybercriminals are testing new techniques for use. This discovery has grave and severe implications. Features such as mouse hover and macros have been designed specifically for legitimate use. However, hackers are getting advantages over their use causing more cyber crimes nowadays. A simple socially engineered email, a mouse hover, and probably a click, are enough requirements to infect a victim.

As you have seen from this article, much attention has been put on OTLARD, new model of delivery, which might fall under the users radar. Despite the fact that OTLAND is a well-known malware, organizations are yet to employ precautionary measures as indicated to outdo this recent technique. Mouse Hover technique sounds unique and original, but its nothing when the user takes necessary actions against it at the door way. Since Mouse Hover largely depends on social engineering, organizations should play a significant role in educating their employees on how to watch out for spam mails.

Spam campaigns containing malicious files often send out millions of messages within a few hours. The average success rate of the mouse hover technique has not yet gotten established. A rate as low as 0.5 percent could transform to a massive threat to an entire organization and individuals surfing the internet across the globe, especially those with earlier versions of office.

Indeed, this remains the newest method delivering malware via mouse hovering.

Need of the hour

Well, we are all hearing about global warming these days very frequently. This global warming is the effect of increased concentration of GHG (Green House Gases) due to burning of fossil fuels & deforestation.

The temperature difference between the last Ice Age and now is about 5 Celsius. Average world temperatures rose by 0.7 Celsius in the 20th century, according to the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Global average temperature is forecast to rise 4C (7.2F) toward the end of the 21st century, and this is a mere 90 years away. Even if began today, and stopped most of our greenhouse gas emissions overnight, we would still see a temperature rise of around 2C (3.6F) by 2090-2100.

Scientists are warning us to take precautionary steps; to keep the average global temperature not more than 2 degree celsius above pre-industrial levels. Otherwise, millions of people would be exposed to increased stress on water supplies, according to the IPCC in its last major report in 2007, based on research by 2,500 experts. It says more people would suffer from malnutrition, some infectious diseases and there would be more deaths from heat waves, floods and droughts. Up to 30 percent of species of animals and plants would be at increasing risk of extinction. Coral reefs would be damaged. Cereals production would decline in tropical areas but, in one benefit, would improve nearer the poles. Coasts would suffer increased damage from floods and storms. Anything more would be "dangerous" for life on the planet. Many environmental groups also have the same target. Small island states, which fear being wiped off the map by rising sea levels, say that dangerous impacts will start at a rise of only 1.5 Celsius.

Now, the global temperature is changing drastically at a rapid pace and we are becoming the victim of it. But, global leaders are just playing the politics which is very much visible by the recent Copenhagen summit. Kyoto Protocol is coming to end in the year 2012 but, no binding agreements have been entered by the global leaders to evade the unforeseen results of global warming.

Developed countries in the west are the clear spoilers of all this effects. They did not take environmental costs into account for their rapid industrial growth and development and now its the turn of developing countries like Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC) which are following the same foot steps. Both developed and developing countries are not ready to take any financial steps to evade this. If this politics continues we are going to end up lives on this earth.

There is a direct co-relation between the increase in GDP, energy usage and global warming. World GDP is growing at the rate of 2 to 4% p.a. World oil & gas reserves will last for 43 years & 58 years respectively based on the present level of consumption. After that we will end up in wide mis-match of energy supply and demand.

Now, its the hour of renewables. Renewables such as solar, wind, hydro etc. are the immediate requirements of the hour to stop the global warming and cope up with the depleting fossil fuels.

We have plenty of renewable energy sources which could supply the whole world energy requirements without any replenishment. It is estimated that MENA (Middle East and North Africa) area itself having solar capacity to supply three times the whole world energy present demand.

Then what is stopping in using these resources is the common question which evolves. The rough estimate of installing a MW of Thermal based power is 4 crores; while wind energy is 6 crores and solar energy is 8 crores (All in INR). This finance economics is what disrupting in putting up solar and wind power stations. It should be remembered that man is the creator of this world and developments. With the increase in usage and research in these fields would make these to compete with the non-renewables as it is evident from the decrease in the wind power cost in the past decade. All that is needed from global leaders is good and encouraging political support for the renewables. At present so, much push has been given by the global governments for the renewables but, this is not enough to keep the global temperature within the ceilings.

Forest covers shall be increased and environmental costs shall be levied on the use of fossil fuels to boost up the renewables. India has recently come up in their budget of levying INR 50 per tonne as the clean energy cess on coal produced or imported into India. Of course this is not enough and will not solve all the problems which India is facing now but, its the first step in making renewables more usable and competitive.

At present, world electricity production is 19.25 trillion kWh (2007 est.) and its growing at a much pacer rate than the increase in growth rate of world GDP. We shall harness all the renewables to boost up the world economy and to have a better life on this earth by getting rid of the global warming.

We need countries like Abu Dhabi, who are very much committed to renewable energies even if they are pretty much rich with fossil fuel resources. Established in April 2006, Masdar (the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) is a multi-faceted company advancing the development, commercialization and deployment of renewable energy solutions and clean technologies. Masdar integrates the full renewable and clean technology lifecycle - from research to commercial deployment with the aim of creating scalable clean energy solutions. And initiatives like the worlds first zero-carbon city are being built in Abu Dhabi and are designed to be not only free of cars and skyscrapers but also powered by the sun.

Another interesting fact about the consumption of meat and its impact on increased global temperature. The 400 page United Nations report has identified the growing herds of cattle / goats / pigs / sheep / chickens as the greatest threat to the climate.
Methane is one of the green house gases which is causing this global warming. Its an easy problem to deal with. It is produced from 4 main sources livestock and livestock manure, rice farming, coal mining and landfills. In all the international treaties that have come and are coming like the one in Copenhagen, the developing world has tried its best to keep methane out of the debate. And they have succeeded because the west is justifiably guilt ridden about their carbon dioxide emissions. But the time has come for both the developed and developing world to recognize that reducing methane is the quickest way to stop global warming.

Methane concentrations have doubled in the last century and by now they are 20% of all greenhouse gas emissions. While carbon dioxide emissions have increased by 31% during the past 200 years, methane has increased by 149%. What makes methane so lethal is that it may be less than carbon dioxide but it is 23 times more efficient in trapping heat in the atmosphere than carbon dioxide. Methane has a large effect for a brief period (8.4 years in the atmosphere), whereas carbon dioxide has a small effect for a long period. That means if we stop generating methane today, we will see the effect almost immediately.

The methane emissions for India, China and Brazil have doubled since 1990 and are expected to go up by 40% by 2020. There is only one reason and it is not an increase in coal mining or in landfills. It is because these countries grow animals for meat and milk.

In developing countries, the number of people eating meat and the amount they are eating every year has risen steadily. Between 1970 and 2002, annual per capita meat consumption in developing countries rose from 11 kilograms to 29 kilograms, according to the FAO. In developed countries, it has risen from 65 kilos to over 100 kilos. The annual global meat production will double from 229 million tons in 2000 to 465 million tons in 2050.

Livestock produce 23% of all methane because the fermentation in their intestines produces methane gas in the animals and their manure. A single dairy cow produces between 550-700L of methane a day
The worlds top destroyer of the atmosphere is not the car or the factory it is the meat eating human. And this monster is on the rise.

A meat eater contributes 1.5 tonnes more of greenhouse gases per year than a vegetarian. This means that our diet change will make more difference than if we replace our standard petrol car for an efficient hybrid car, which reduces annual greenhouse emissions by roughly one ton a year. Indias livestock of roughly 485 million contributes more to global warming than our vehicles - 11.75 million metric tons per year up from 9 million metric tons in 1994.

These cattle, pigs and sheep, chicken, goats did not want to be born we created them. They do not want to be killed but we kill them to eat. In the process, we are killing the planet. Their wind and manure are warming the world 23 times faster than carbon dioxide.
Be aware of the facts about global warming; educate our friends and fellows. Let us save our planet.

Natural Herbs To Help Increase A Womens Fertility

Fertility issues can be a big setback for a couple with plans for a family. A wide variety of emotions are involved besides the underlying psychological issue. And unfortunately, the most common treatment is hormone replacement or hormone balancing prescription medication. Although in many cases this is effective, it can be an extreme measure for many people because of the possible side effects. In fact, it is now a medical fact that hormone therapy can increase the risk of developing breast cancer.

So the question is... what options does a woman have that can increase fertility, without the risks of hormone replacement prescription medication?

Well, there are several natural and herbal treatment options that can aid in the fertility process. The most important thing to keep in mind is that not all treatments, herbal or otherwise will work for all women, and to maximize any fertility solution it is imperative to keep a very healthy body. Strive to take a full daily dose of recommended vitamins, minerals, water, and nutrients. Stay away from processed foods, alcohol, unnecessary drug use and environmental toxins (rush hour traffic can and does pollute your body with CO2).

Two herbs to start with for an overall healthy body is Parsley and Alfalfa. These herbs have a high nutrient, vitamin, and mineral content. They are key to making sure your body has enough iron, vitamin c, potasium, and zinc. Kelp can also help your body, and help regulate your thyroid.

For women suffering from endometriosis or PCOS, these 3 green herbs can really help get the body ready for pregnancy. In fact, if a heavy period accompanies these symptoms, it is even more important because these 3 herbs can help balance the calcium and iron loss that can occur during a heavy period.

Now, the following herbs have mild to moderate abilities to regulate hormone levels, and can aid some women:

Black Cohosh - this herb is very popular in Germany for womens issues. It may be able to increase natural estrogen levels in the body, without the harsh side effects of prescription medications. A womans body produces less estrogen over time and age...and black cohosh may be a natural way to increase these estrogen levels for some women.

Sarsaparilla - This herb is good at general hormone level regulation. It can regulate both male and female hormone levels, and is believed to be able to stimulate estrogen levels.

Horsetail - this herb is specifically beneficial to infertility problems due to Fibroids. Even though it is traditionally used as a diuretic, and can help with urinary issues of the bladder and kidney, it dissolves fatty cysts internally. Therefore, women with Fibroids can possibly gain some benefit from horsetail.

Evening Primrose Oil - This herb acts as a toner for the uterus, and helps increase the fertility qualities in cervical fluid. It also helps regulate period flow, and helps the health and strength of the uterus lining. Evening Primrose Oil works best if used between menstruation and ovulation - the first part of a cycle.

Music Helps with Neurological Development for Brain Injury Patients

A study recently published in an August edition of Medical Hypotheses found that music therapy can benefit patients with neuropsyhciatric disorders often caused by a traumatic brain injury accident.

According to researchers at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, located in Boston, "the brain grows in response to musical training in the way a muscle responds to exercise." While more research is needed to better understand the outcome and scientific findings of music influencing the rehabilitation of neurons in the brain, music is currently being used as part of a number of TBI patients cognitive rehabilitation and music research is being used to treat the following conditions:

* stroke

* schizophrenia

* Huntington's disease

* Alzheimers disease

Traumatic Brain Injuries

According to a September 2007 issue of Behavioral Pharmacology, a study was conducted to determine if those affected with psychiatric disorders, Parkinsons disease as well as other brain-related conditions would respond to music. The study found that "music exposure significantly enhanced learning performance" to injured mice. The study also suggested that the findings might also "help in several central nervous system pathologies."

Living with TBI

TBI is an unfortunate condition that affects approximately 5.3 million Americans with this number rapidly increasing due to the additional 1 million citizens who are, on average, diagnosed with TBI each year.

The side effects of TBI are extensive and the severity of these side effects often depends on a per basis diagnosis. However, the common elements of a TBI injury include the following as reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

* headaches and neck pain

* inability to concentrate

* memory loss

* slow thinking, speaking and slowed actions

* mood changes

* light-headedness

* blurred vision, tired eyes

* loss of sensory ability

* ringing in the ears

* changes in sleep patterns

* nausea, vomiting

* becoming lost or confused more easily

Scientists and researchers are continually studying new ways to better treat and rehabilitate TBI victims as well as to more adequately understand the brain and all of its functions. A $60 million grant was also recently awarded to the University of California San Diego (UCSD) to study treatments for TBI patients as well as those returning from the war with TBI and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Of the types of TBI injuries that can be diagnosed are an array of additional types/categores of TBI, according to the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA), include:

* concussion

* contusion

* coup-contre coup injury

* second impact syndrome

* penetrating injury

* shaken baby syndrome

* locked in syndrome

Acquiring TBI Legal Assistance

Individuals who suffer from TBI should consider contacting a TBI law firm for a free legal consultation on a traumatic brain injury lawsuit. An experienced TBI lawyer or TBI attorney will be able to provide the details of developing brain injury litigation that may offer an award of monetary compensation to a victim for costly medical bills associated with living with a TBI injury.

Additional monetary compensation may also be awarded for the time and loss of an individuals normal life including losing a job because of injuries related to a TBI accident.
